Oltre alle due formazioni maschili, quest'anno la Colosseum Handball 2022 si presenterà ai nastri di partenza della Calise Cup 2026 anche con una formazione tutta al femminile.
La compagine di coach Emanuele Bellini ha avviato un nuovo progetto e per questa edizione sarà composta da giocatrici di varie formazioni italiane e non, ovvero atlete provenienti dalla Pallamano Romagna, dal Follonica, dal Salerno ed anche della formazione del Playas De Fuengirola con la presenza di Andrea Lerena Colunga, compagine spagnola vincitrice delle EBT Finals e del Campionato di Spagna nel 2025 e tra le più titolate d'Europa.
Buona fortuna a tutte e che la prima esperienza a Gaeta possa essere la prima di tantissime altre!

In addition to the two men's teams, this year Colosseum Handball 2022 will also be competing in the Calise Cup 2026 with a women team.

La storia della squadra femminile maltese di beach handball è recente ma in rapida crescita, caratterizzata da significativi investimenti da parte della federazione locale per portare questo sport sulla sabbia a livelli competitivi europei.
In particolare, proprio la nostra Calise Cup ha segnato la prima partecipazione in assoluto della Nazionale Femminile ad una competizione internazionale di beach handball: un'altra pietra miliare nella visione più ampia della Federazione di elevare questo sport sia per gli uomini che per le donne.
"La nostra partecipazione a questi tornei fa parte di un piano a lungo termine per lo sviluppo della pallamano a Malta", ha commentato il Presidente della Federazione Maltese di Pallamano, Daniel Tabone. "L'obiettivo non è solo ottenere risultati immediati, ma acquisire la necessaria esperienza internazionale, perfezionare il nostro modello di gioco e costruire squadre competitive per il futuro. Con poche opportunità di competere a livello internazionale, questi eventi sono preziosi per la crescita delle nostre giocatrici e per valutare il nostro livello attuale."
La nazionale femminile alla Calise Cup 2025 è stata allenata da Pedro Teixeira e dal suo vice Daniel Tanti Farrugia e dal Team Manager Adam Sule ed era formata da: Daryl Azzopardi, Rebecca Bonello, Stephanie Brincat, Raquelle Ciantar, Nicole Ellul, Brenda Mamo, Kimberley Mifsud, Erica Mizzi, Elizabeth Schiavone, Ilenia Xuereb.
La nazionale femminile maltese ha fatto un debutto memorabile, conquistando tre vittorie contro avversarie di alto livello provenienti da Ungheria, Paesi Bassi, Polonia e Italia, e classificandosi al rispettabile quinto posto.
La partecipazione internazionale della squadra maltese è stata resa possibile grazie al supporto del Comitato Olimpico Maltese, con il quale la Federazione collabora strettamente per lo sviluppo di questo settore della pallamano.

The history of the Malta women's beach handball team is a recent but rapidly growing one, characterized by significant investments by the local federation to bring the sport on the sand to competitive European levels.
Significantly, the Calise Cup also marked the first-ever participation of the Women’s National Team in an international beach handball competition - another milestone in the Association’s broader vision to elevate the sport for both men and women.
“Our participation in these tournaments forms part of a long-term plan to develop handball in Malta,” remarked Malta Handball Association President Daniel Tabone. “The objective is not just about immediate results but about gaining the necessary international experience, refining our game model, and building competitive teams for the future. With few opportunities to compete at international level, these events are invaluable for our players’ growth and for assessing our current standing.”
Women’s Team at Calise Cup 2025 was coached by Pedro Teixeira and his assistant coach Daniel Tanti Farrugia with the Team Manager Adam Sule and formed by:
Daryl Azzopardi, Rebecca Bonello, Stephanie Brincat, Raquelle Ciantar, Nicole Ellul, Brenda Mamo, Kimberley Mifsud, Erica Mizzi, Elizabeth Schiavone, Ilenia Xuereb.
Malta’s women’s team made a memorable debut, registering three wins against strong opposition from Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, and Italy, finishing in a respectable fifth place.
Team Malta’s international participation was made possible through the support of the Maltese Olympic Committee with whom the Association is working closely on developing this sector of handball.

Continuiamo a presentare le squadre partecipanti e diamo un caloroso benvenuto alle ragazze dell'Olympia Beach Handball, le quali partecipano per la prima volta al nostro torneo EBT di Gaeta.
L'Olympia Beach Handball è una squadra femminile di Londra, composta da giocatrici di 10 diverse nazionalità.
La squadra è cresciuta notevolmente negli ultimi anni ed è ora tra i migliori club di beach handball in Europa.
Hanno vinto l'oro all'EBT di Praga a Gennaio, l'argento all'EBT di Bielsko-Biała in Polonia dei nostri amici dello Szczypiorniak Bielsko Biala, il bronzo a Trollhättan all'EBT Nordic Open Beach in Svezia e più volte il titolo di campionesse britanniche, quale ha permesso la partecipazione alla Coppa dei Campioni nel 2022, 2023 e 2025.
Il loro obiettivo è quello consolidare questi successi in questa stagione!
E possono anche contare su uno dei migliori portieri, dato che a Trapani Sabrina Oliveira ha vinto il premio come miglior portiere alle finali EBT 2024.
Tutte le squadre sono quindi avvisate, perché le ragazze di coach Nelson Oliveira hanno dato il via alla stagione a Zagabria alla Jarun Cup, con l'obiettivo di ottenere ulteriori ottimi risultati e guadagnare altri importanti punti EBT!

Alla Calise Cup 2026 avremo il piacere di ospitare la nazionale femminile della Slovacchia, quale rappresenta una delle realtà emergenti dell’Europa centrale nella disciplina della pallamano sulla sabbia.
Gestita dalla Slovak Handball Federation, la selezione nasce ufficialmente dopo la separazione della Cecoslovacchia nel 1993, quando anche il movimento della pallamano slovacca iniziò a svilupparsi autonomamente.
Nei primi anni il beach handball in Slovacchia era ancora uno sport di nicchia, molto meno diffuso rispetto alla pallamano indoor. Tuttavia, con la crescita del movimento europeo organizzato dalla European Handball Federation, anche la Slovacchia iniziò a partecipare con maggiore continuità ai tornei internazionali estivi e ai primi circuiti EBT (European Beach Handball Tour).
La nazionale femminile slovacca prese parte alle sue prime competizioni europee durante gli anni 2000, affrontando nazionali già molto esperte come Spagna, Norvegia, Danimarca e Croazia. Le prime partecipazioni agli Europei servirono soprattutto per accumulare esperienza internazionale e sviluppare un’identità tecnica propria.
Con il passare degli anni, le “Slovenky” — termine slovacco che significa semplicemente “le slovacche” — hanno costruito una squadra riconoscibile per: rapidità nelle transizioni; intensità difensiva; gioco collettivo molto organizzato; qualità tecnica negli spin shot e grande preparazione atletica.
La crescita del movimento è stata favorita anche dall’aumento dei tornei estivi in Slovacchia e dalla partecipazione costante ai principali eventi EBT europei. Molte giocatrici della nazionale provengono infatti dalla pallamano indoor, disciplina storicamente molto praticata nel Paese.
Negli ultimi anni la Slovacchia ha investito molto nel settore giovanile, creando selezioni U17 e U18 competitive a livello internazionale. Proprio questo lavoro ha permesso alla nazionale senior di aumentare il proprio livello tecnico e di diventare una squadra sempre più ostica nei tornei europei.
Tra le esperienze internazionali più importanti della nazionale femminile slovacca ci sono: le partecipazioni agli EHF Beach Handball EURO e diversi tornei EBT in Croazia, Ungheria e Repubblica Ceca; come gli eventi internazionali giovanili come Jarun Cup e Salgo Cup; raduni e amichevoli contro nazionali dell’Europa centrale.
Pur non avendo ancora conquistato medaglie continentali, la Slovacchia viene oggi considerata una nazionale in crescita costante, capace di competere con equilibrio contro selezioni più blasonate.
La nazionale slovacca femminile di beach handball rappresenta oggi uno dei progetti più interessanti dell’Europa orientale, grazie a un mix di giovani talenti, organizzazione federale e sempre maggiore esperienza internazionale.

At the Calise Cup 2026, we will be pleased to host the Slovakian women's national team, one of Central Europe's emerging Beach Handball teams.
Managed by the Slovak Handball Federation, the team was officially founded after the separation of Czechoslovakia in 1993, when the Slovak handball movement also began to develop independently.
In its early years, beach handball in Slovakia was still a niche sport, much less widespread than indoor handball. However, with the growth of the European movement organized by the European Handball Federation, Slovakia also began to participate more regularly in international summer tournaments and the first EBT (European Beach Handball Tour) circuits.
The Slovakian women's national team took part in its first European competitions in the 2000s, competing against already very experienced national teams such as Spain, Norway, Denmark, and Croatia. The first European Championship appearances served primarily to gain international experience and develop a distinctive technical identity.
Over the years, the "Slovenky", a Slovak term meaning simply "the Slovaks", 1have built a team recognizable for their quick transitions; defensive intensity; highly organized team play; technical quality in spin shots; and excellent athletic preparation.
The growth of the movement has also been fostered by the increase in summer tournaments in Slovakia and by constant participation in major European EBT events. Many of the national team's players come from indoor handball, a sport historically widely practiced in the country.
In recent years, Slovakia has invested heavily in its youth sector, creating internationally competitive U17 and U18 teams. This work has allowed the senior national team to improve its technical level and become an increasingly challenging team in European tournaments.
Among the Slovakian women's national team's most notable international experiences are participation in the EHF Beach Handball EURO and several EBT tournaments in Croatia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic; international youth events such as the Jarun Cup and Salgo Cup; and camps and friendlies against Central European teams.
Despite not yet having won any continental medals, Slovakia is now considered a steadily improving national team, capable of competing evenly against more renowned teams.
The Slovakian women's national beach handball team is now one of the most exciting projects in Eastern Europe, thanks to a mix of young talent, a strong federation, and growing international experience.

Dopo la loro presenza e la vittoria dell'EBT Calise Cup 2024 nella finale contro la squadra portoghese dell'Ad Iasports, avremo di nuovo il piacere di ospitare le ragazze del Niterói Rugby FC - Handebol provenienti dal Brasile.
Si tratta di una squadra composta da giovani giocatrici di grande talento, che già militano nelle nazionali giovanili e senior, affiancate da giocatrici più esperte e leggende che le aiutano a migliorare e crescere.
Alle finali EBT del 2024 hanno conquistato la medaglia di bronzo alla fine della partita contro le OVB Beach Girls, prendendosi la rivincita dopo la sconfitta subìta la settimana precedente contro le ragazze ungheresi nella finale per il 3° e 4° posto all'EBT Lacanau Beach Handball Xperience 2024. Hanno quindi vinto due medaglie di bronzo consecutive in una settimana.
Lo scorso anno hanno migliorato la loro posizione conquistando la medaglia d'argento alle EBT Finals 2025 di Trapani, raggiungendo una finale storica contro la fortissima squadra spagnola del CATS A.M. Team Almeria. Dopo una partita spettacolare e intensissima, Niterói ha perso solo agli shootout per 2-1 (punteggi dei set: 14:27, 20:18, SO 4:6), classificandosi al secondo posto delle EBT Finals 2025. Hanno anche avuto il miglior portiere del torneo, Thais Petrucci Negocio Montenegro è stata infatti premiata come "Best Goalkeeper".
All'EBT di Lacanau hanno vinto il torneo contro la squadra francese di Brest e in Olanda, all'EBT Camelot, hanno conquistato la medaglia di bronzo battendo le ragazze olandesi del Kras Volendam.
Con sede in Brasile, ma orgogliosamente in gara sotto la bandiera irlandese dal 2023. Il percorso di questa squadra è una testimonianza di dedizione, strategia e determinazione nel portare la pallamano da spiaggia sulla scena mondiale.
La pallamano da spiaggia ha registrato una crescita significativa in Europa, ma altre regioni, in particolare il Sud e il Centro America, hanno dovuto affrontare notevoli difficoltà. La pandemia di COVID-19 ha gravemente compromesso le attività sportive, portando a un forte calo delle squadre attive in Brasile. Nonostante queste battute d'arresto, la partecipazione della squadra di pallamano da spiaggia Niterói ai tornei europei si distingue come simbolo di passione e resilienza.
Il Niterói è nato nel 1973 come squadra di rugby. Nel 1981, si è ampliato includendo la sua prima squadra di pallamano indoor, composta da atleti che praticavano sia rugby che pallamano. Il club ha vinto sei campionati nazionali indoor, tra categorie senior e giovanili, sia maschili che femminili.
Fino al 2007, il club partecipava alla pallamano da spiaggia, ma si riuniva solo per giocare nei tornei, senza allenarsi come una squadra dedicata.
Nel 2007, ha iniziato a considerare la pallamano da spiaggia come uno sport distinto, separato dalla pallamano indoor. Entro il 2009, ha introdotto sessioni di allenamento specifiche e allenatori, sebbene molti atleti continuassero a competere in entrambi gli sport.
Le ragazze di coach Luiz Roberto Luika e del team manager Renan Pinheiro Carvalho arriveranno a Gaeta anche per prepararsi alle prossime finali EBT, che si terranno il fine settimana successivo alla Calise Cup (18-21 giugno a Trapani) e vedranno le brasiliane giocare sotto la bandiera irlandese nel girone con Hiekka Hauskaa dai Paesi Bassi, le ungheresi del CYEB Budakalász BH (precedentemente Multichem Szentendrei NKE) e la squadra svizzera delle Wasserschloss Beachqueens.

After their presence and victory of EBT Calise Cup 2024, in the end of final game against the portuguese team of Ad Iasports, we will have again the pleasure to host the girls of Niterói Rugby FC from Brazil.
They are a team full of young players with huge talent and already playing with youth and senior national team, mixed with more expert and legend players that are helping them to improve and grow up.
In 2024 they got the bronze medal in the end of game against OVB Beach Girls and they had the reveange because one week before they lost against hungarian girls in the end of 3rd - 4th place final at EBT Lacanau Beach Handball Xperience 2024, so they won 2 bronze in a row in one week.
While last year they improved their position and they won the silver medal at EBT Finals 2025 in Trapani, reaching an historical final against the very strong Spanish team of CATS A.M. Team Almeria. After a spectacular and very intense match, Niterói only lost in the shootout 2-1 (set scores: 14:27, 20:18, SO 4:6), becoming runner-up of the EBT Finals 2025. They also had the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament because Thais Petrucci Negocio Montenegro won the award as Best Goalie.
At Ebt in Lacanau they won the tournament against the french team of Brest and in Netherlands at EBT Camelot they got the bronze medal winning against Dutch girls of Kras Volendam.

Beach handball has seen significant growth in Europe, but other regions, particularly South and Central America, have faced substantial challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted sports activities, leading to a sharp decline in active teams in Brazil. Despite these setbacks, the Niterói Beach Handball team's involvement in European tournaments stands out as a symbol of passion and resilience.
Niterói was established in 1973 as a rugby team. In 1981, they expanded to include their first indoor handball team, comprising athletes who played both rugby and handball. The club has won six national indoor championships, across senior and youth categories, for both men and women.
Until 2007, the club participated in beach handball, but only gathered to play in tournaments rather than training as a dedicated team.
In 2007, they began treating beach handball as a distinct sport, separate from indoor handball. By 2009, they had introduced specialized training sessions and coaches, although many athletes continued to compete in both sports.
Girls of coach Luiz Roberto Luika and manager Renan Pinheiro Carvalho will come in Gaeta also to prepare the next EBT Finals, that will be held the weekend after Calise Cup (18-21 June in Trapani) and will see the brazilians playing under the Irish flag in the group with Hiekka Hauskaa from Netherlands, hungarians of CYEB Budakalász BH (previously Multichem Szentendrei NKE) and team from Switzerland of Wasserschloss Beachqueens.

Il GRD Leça (noto per ragioni di sponsorizzazione come ) è una delle squadre più prestigiose e vincenti nel panorama del beach handball femminile europeo.
Originario di Leça da Palmeira, in Portogallo, il club ha scalato i vertici continentali diventando una presenza fissa e temibile nelle fasi finali dei tornei della European Handball Federation (EHF).
Il club nasce formalmente a Leça da Palmeira, una frazione del comune di Matosinhos in Portogallo. Sotto la guida del presidente e capo allenatore Pedro Pereira, la società decide di fare una scommessa pionieristica: non considerare la pallamano sulla spiaggia come un semplice passatempo estivo per i giocatori indoor, ma fondare una vera e propria struttura d'élite dedicata esclusivamente al Beach Handball.
In breve tempo il club assume il controllo del campionato portoghese, conquistando i suoi primi titoli nel Portugal Beach Handball Tour. La crescita sportiva attira investitori privati: la squadra sigla uno storico accordo di sponsorizzazione con il brand Love Tiles, diventando ufficialmente GRD Leça - Love Tiles.
Nel 2018, il club compie il suo debutto sulla scena internazionale a Catania, in Italia, durante la Champions Cup. Sorprendendo le corazzate dell'est e del nord Europa, il Leça vola fino alla finale continentale, dove cede solo davanti alle ungheresi del Multichem-Szentendrei, conquistando una leggendaria medaglia d'argento trainata dai gol di Rita Alves, capocannoniere del torneo.
Dopo lo stop forzato a causa della pandemia, il club torna sulla sabbia più affamato che mai. Il punto più alto della storia societaria viene toccato a ottobre 2021 a Isola delle Femmine (Palermo): il GRD Leça domina la Champions Cup sconfiggendo in finale le spagnole del GEA A.M. Team Almeria e si laurea Campione d'Europa per la prima volta nella sua storia.
Conquistato il tetto d'Europa, la squadra affronta un ricambio generazionale, crescendo talenti che diventano la colonna portante della nazionale portoghese. Oltre ai risultati sul campo, come il secondo posto alle EBT Finals del 2022, il club si trasforma in un punto di riferimento formativo mondiale, organizzando annualmente i prestigiosi convegni Formação International de Andebol de Praia, dove i migliori tecnici del mondo si riuniscono a Matosinhos.

Pochi mesi più tardi, nell'edizione 2025 della Champions Cup a Porto Santo, la squadra raggiunge nuovamente la finale europea, arrendendosi solo ai tiri di rigore (shoot-out) contro il Málaga, portando a casa un altro prestigioso argento europeo che conferma il club stabilmente nell'élite assoluta della disciplina.
Le ragazze di coach Pedro Pereira hanno iniziato la stagione 2025/26 con il torneo EBT Diputación de Malaga Diego Carasco arrivando al 6° posto mentre nel mese di Aprile hanno partecipato al torneo EBT Jarun Cup di Zagabria terminando all'8° posto su 28 squadre partecipanti ed al momento sono piazzate al 4° posto del ranking generale.

GRD Leça (known for sponsorship reasons as GRD Leça - Love Tiles) is one of the most prestigious and successful teams in European women's beach handball.
Originating in Leça da Palmeira, Portugal, the club has risen to the top of the continent, becoming a regular and formidable presence in the final stages of European Handball Federation (EHF) tournaments.
The club was formally founded in Leça da Palmeira, a hamlet in the municipality of Matosinhos, Portugal. Under the guidance of president and head coach Pedro Pereira, the club decided to make a pioneering challenge: to stop treating beach handball as a simple summer pastime for indoor players, and instead establish a truly elite facility dedicated exclusively to beach handball.
The club quickly took control of the Portuguese championship, winning its first titles in the Portugal Beach Handball Tour. Its growth attracted private investors: the team signed a historic sponsorship deal with the Love Tiles brand, officially becoming GRD Leça - Love Tiles.
In 2018, the club made its international debut in Catania, Italy, during the Champions Cup. Surprising the Eastern and Northern European powerhouses, Leça advanced to the continental final, where they fell only to Hungarian side Multichem-Szentendrei, winning a legendary silver medal thanks to the goals of Rita Alves, the tournament's top scorer.
After the forced stoppage due to the pandemic, the club returns to the sand hungrier than ever. The club's history reached its highest point in October 2021 in Isola delle Femmine (Palermo): GRD Leça dominated the Champions Cup, defeating Spain's GEA A.M. Team Almeria in the final and becoming European Champions for the first time.
Having secured the European crown, the team underwent a generational change, nurturing talents who became the backbone of the Portuguese national team. Beyond its on-field results, such as second place at the 2022 EBT Finals, the club became a global training hub, annually organizing the prestigious Formação International de Andebol de Praia conferences, where the world's best coaches gather in Matosinhos.
In 2024, the Portuguese women's team returned to the continental podium at the Champions Cup in Porto Santo, losing in the bronze medal match and finishing in fourth place.
In 2025, the club cemented its domestic dominance and returned to the European top. In August 2025, in Espinho, GRD Leça wrote an indelible page in the history of the club by winning its seventh Portuguese National Title.
A few months later, in the 2025 edition of the Champions Cup in Porto Santo, the team reached the European final again, losing only on penalties (shootout) against Málaga, taking home another prestigious European silver medal that cemented the club's place among the absolute elite of the sport.
Coach Pedro Pereira's team began the 2025/26 season with the EBT Diputación de Malaga Diego Carasco tournament, finishing in sixth place. In April, they participated in the EBT Jarun Cup tournament in Zagreb, finishing eighth out of 28 participating teams. They currently hold fourth place in the overall ranking.

"For some of us, this will be the 15th time; others are joining for the first time. But the Calise Cup has become a popular tournament in the Netherlands, and more Dutch teams are following us to Gaeta.
This year, we are coming with a group of enthusiastic women and a number of men to enjoy the "Lemon Bar," "Christian's Bar," Ke-Eat, and of course, sun, sea and sand, and getting sunburned afterwards!
We are looking forward to another nice edition with our beach handball friends and family!"
